Shahid Afridi to visit Batleys Mount CC

Boom Boom Shahid Afridi is the star guest at Batley’s Mount Cricket Club this coming Sunday, May 17.

The 35-year-old all-rounder – one of the most famous cricketers ever to come out of Pakistan – will be at the Staincliffe venue during the afternoon before attending a dinner in the evening to raise funds for the Shahid Afridi Foundation.

Afridi is due to arrive in Batley in the morning and, at 2pm he will visit a mosque to give a talk.

From around 3pm to 5pm he will be at Mount CC to play a few games with youngsters, have photographs taken and generally socialise with everyone who is there.

The fundraising dinner is being held at the PKWA Centre in Batley and tickets are still available by contacting Yusuf Kayat on 07976 786678.

Funds will go to the Foundation, a charitable trust which was set up by Afridi – nicknamed Boom Boom because of his big-hitting batting style – to help provide basic health care and education to the people of Pakistan.
