Moazzam Begg Pleads Not Guilty to Charge

A man and a woman from the West Midlands have appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court on Saturday 1 March charged with Syria-related terrorism offences. 


Moazzam Begg, a 45-year-old outreach director from Hall Green, is accused of providing instruction and training for terrorism and facilitating terrorism in Syria. 

A 44-year-old woman, Gerrie Tahari from Sparkbrook, is accused of facilitating terrorism in Syria. 

The two were charged late on Friday evening. Two men - aged 20 and 36 - remain in custody in the West Midlands. 

When asked to give an indication of how they intended to plead they both replied not guilty. They were remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on 14 March.
